February 28th 1874
I take the liberty of enclosing a newspaper copy of a minute of Legislative Council of Hongkong, presented to me by a deputation on my approaching departure from the Colony.
The said Papers contain an account of a Chinese deputation with an address on the same day. They may be interesting to Ld Carnarvon as evidence of the amicable terms on which Chinese and Europeans can live together without unreasonable sacrifice on the part of the latter.
Yours faithfully,
Cakerament House,
Victoria, Hong Kong.
